Aromas, CA

The little town of Aromas is straddled between 2 counties; San Benito and Monterey off Highway 101, about 18 miles southwest of Hollister. You can also get to Aromas by traveling along SR129 which is north of the town.  The town was originally known as Sand Cut, named from the Southern Pacific Railroad tunnel constructed nearby in the 1870s. In 1918, the community changed its name to Aromas and is now home to approximately 3,000 people and several businesses.

The largest business in Aromas is Graniterock with it’s own quarry. Other robust agricultural businesses are sprinkled through the area. There is a gas station, restaurant, library, several markets and other small businesses. The town is known for wonderful community events such as concerts, dances and art festivals, most held at the Aromas Community Grange located near the town center.
